SevenCapital wants to cram Archway Campus with massive housing blocks and a 27 storey tower. We think the site should be developed more sensitively, conserving the unique community, history, and buildings.

The proposal has been submitted and is open for consultation with Islington Council until 3 November.

If it goes through, the plan will see the demolition of historic buildings, large blocks all the way up Highgate Hill, and a massive student tower block that provides no affordable homes for families or residents.

They want to cram 242 students into expensive tower block units and only 91 affordable units. most of these are studio/1-bed flats that won’t enable families to JOIN THE community or stem the closure of local schools.

London needs new genuinely affordable housing for families and key workers. The current plans don’t comply with Islington’s own planning policies, prioritise overseas students, and will cause substantial harm to the local area. Does SevenCapital even have the financial capacity to take on a project of this scale?

How is the local area going to cope with the strain of more than 1,000 new residents? Local services are already overburdened and with a significant part of the site being given to overseas students, who don’t pay council tax, these plans make this worse.

a smaller, sustainable and community-minded development would make more sense.
